Nine Elms Point is a scheme to provide shared-ownership accommodation in London's largest regeneration hotspot. Zone 1 of the impressive scheme will provide 647 upscale studios, consisting of 1, 2, 3 & 4 bedroom apartments and penthouses across seven buildings, respectively. Once complete the entire project will create over 16,000 new homes and a large park reaching the entire length of Nine Elms.

The development stretches three kilometers along the south side of the Thames and is a new residential development with regeneration including new parks, public squares, footpaths, cycle lanes, sports pitches, shopping areas and a variety of recreation spaces.

Zone 1 of the project offers a vast green space of landscaped gardens for residents that will enhance the community feel, including a woodland area and two rills leading to a waterfall pond, as well as many walkways and green spaces.

Artform's involvement in the project started with the initial consultation regarding the supply of standard products to the residential area but with a bespoke feel. Artform provided expert knowledge in suggesting a product that was sympathetic to the soft landscaping within the scheme but with a designer feel. The award winning Multiplicity seating, with its cast aluminium support structure was suggested, as this could allow for a selection of alternate timber to be used, giving the client flexibility and confidence that it would blend with the landscape.

In the case of this particular project, European Oak was suggested as a complementary timber choice for the seating, to lend continuity to the scheme, which included Silver Birch, for other elements of the timber selection.

Artform's ability to work with its supply chain in sourcing specific materials meant that the design team's requirements could be matched exactly.

Outcome:

The Gardens to Nine Elms Point are quiet and tranquil spaces that appear hidden from the urban environment, where residents can escape the stresses of their everyday busy lifestyles. This is also a natural environment that is perfect for playful children to explore and grow.

The Project has enhanced the overall development by providing a safe landscaped area in the busy urban environment of Battersea, London. There will be health benefits for residents as well as providing a suitable area for the local wildlife to flourish.
