Artform Urban Furniture have supplied a complete package from bus shelters to street furniture for the eagerly anticipated improvements to Eastbourne Town Centre.

The scheme, a joint project between East Sussex County Council and Eastbourne Borough Council, is aimed at modernising the town centre, improving pedestrian conditions and attracting more visitors. The changes will also complement the redevelopment of the Arndale Centre in Eastbourne.

Our ongoing involvement in this redevelopment project goes back over 5 years. Working with our partners Landscape Forms and Metalco, the specification of the award winning Metro40 collection of street furniture, combined with the iconic Pensilis bus shelters, was approved after lengthy discussions with the East Sussex County Council design team and WSP Global Landscape Architects.

The Metro40 Collection designed by BMW Design Works includes everything from benches and bollards to litter bins and is a pioneering line of urban streetscape and transport elements, with sophistication and global appeal for a world on the move.

The Pensilis shelters designed by Antonio Citterio feature a minimalist frame allowing for large windows and a backlit advertising display space. The Toso benches have been added to the shelters to complete the modern look whilst fulfilling the exacting design brief from the end client.

Artforms technical sales team provided advice and guidance throughout the procurement and delivery process. Detailed product instructions and onsite installation support were also supplied to both the client and contractor, to assist with fitting of the product.

The scheme ensures that the public transport system continues to evolve and with the addition of distinctive and modern street furniture elements it will breathe new confidence into the local community, as well as enhancing the experience of the visitor economy and overall perception of the town as a destination.
